“Cooperation between China and Latvia in the field of research and investment”
The Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with the aim of promoting mutual understanding and benefit, and friendly cooperation. The delegation from the Institute of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was represented by prof. Pei Changhong, former director of the Institute of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, prof. Liu Xiahui, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Research, Dr. Xie Qian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Research, and Dr. Chen Xiaoliang, Assistant Professor, Institute of Economics. This is the first visit by researchers from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since 2016, when a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the two Academies of Sciences.
In order to acquaint a wider audience with the contribution of science to China’s economic growth and to define the possibilities of Latvian-Chinese cooperation in the field of research and investment, the LAS Institute of Economics organized a round table discussion “Sino-Latvian cooperation in research and investment”.

The LAS Institute of Economics signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Economics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences
In 2019, the LAS Institute of Economics signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Economics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences. The Economics Institutes of the two countries’ academies of science agreed on common research interests, as well as developed a joint research project for the development of social entrepreneurship in both countries.

Institute of Economics of Latvian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences organized a seminar-discussion “The Youth in Post-Soviet States: Comparison of Latvia and Poland” on the topic of nowadays problems of the youth in Latvia and in Poland. The seminar took place in the framework of the Project “The Youth and Socialisation Processes in Transition Countries: New Context, New Challenges, New Problems” of the Programme “Harmony”.
